ADMISSION TO PRACTICE:
Caleb joined Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen in 2004. He has significant experience in virtually all types of real estate transactions, with a focus on affordable housing matters. Throughout his career, he has advised both for-profit and non-profit developers and low income housing credit syndicators and investors in connection with the financing and development of affordable housing developments with multi-tiered debt and LIHTC equity structures including equity, HOME, CDBG, Section 8, state tax credit, renewable energy grant/tax credit, and tax-exempt and taxable bond financing.
Prior to joining the firm, Caleb represented private firms sponsoring real estate opportunity funds in connection with the acquisition, financing and disposition of office buildings, apartment buildings, and shopping centers, as well as joint venture/partnership agreements with local developers in connection with similar projects. He also represented lenders in connection with construction and permanent financing of office developments, residential projects, shopping centers and mixed-use developments.
Caleb’s career began in the City of Chicago’s law department where he was involved in the local and pass-through federal financing of privately-owned affordable housing and other real estate projects and the City’s own contracting with construction contractors and design professionals for the development of City owned projects. This work included numerous contracts related to the construction and development of Millennium Park and the installation of the green roof at City Hall.
