PRACTICE:

Kathie Soroka concentrates her practice in affordable housing finance and development.  She has experience representing developers and investors in connection with the syndication of low-income housing tax credits, and various other federal, state and local loan and grant programs utilized for the rehabilitation or new construction of multi-family housing, including housing for families, the elderly, and individuals with special needs.  Kathie is actively involved with projects involving multi-tiered private and governmental financing structures, including HOPE VI mixed-finance transactions.  Prior to joining Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen, Kathie worked with a broad array of public and private entities involved in community development and affordable housing development, including the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI), and MassHousing (formerly, Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency).
