PRACTICE:

Tom Thorne-Thomsen's practice focuses on (1) the taxation of pass-through entities such as partnerships and limited liability companies, (2) the development of real estate with special tax incentives such as the low-income housing and historic rehabilitation tax credits and (3) community economic development and the utilization of the new markets tax credit.  Tom’s clients include developers and equity participants.    Tom also provides assistance and counsel to tax-exempt entities in connection with both the application for tax-exempt status and the maintenance of that status

RELEVANT ACTIVITIES:

Tom is a member of the bar associations of Illinois, Colorado and Georgia.  He has written on the low-income housing tax credit and has been a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on the development of affordable housing and on community economic development with the new markets tax credit.  Tom has also served on the Boards of Directors of many not-for-profit organizations, some of which have been involved the development of affordable housing and others that have focused on other social and human rights issues.
