Career Overview

Current Focus: A founding member of Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen, I concentrate my real estate practice in affordable housing development and finance. I have extensive experience representing developers, investors, PHA’s and lenders in the acquisition, financing and development of affordable multifamily housing, supportive living and historic projects that utilize federal and state low-income housing and historic tax credits, rental subsidies and multi-tiered private and governmental loan, tax-exempt bond, FHA-insured loan and grant programs. My practice also involves working with skilled nursing facility owners and operators in conjunction with the HUD 232 loan program and other financing associated with such facilities, as well as commercial real estate owners and developers on a wide variety of industrial, retail, warehouse and mixed-use developments. I value a team approach to representation of our clients in order to provide them with a wide range of expertise delivered in an efficient manner.

I have served on the boards of local charitable organizations whose purpose is to foster the preservation and development of affordable housing and community development in and around the Chicagoland area. I continue to participate as a panelist and moderator at seminars and continuing legal education programs sponsored by national and regional organizations engaged in the business of affordable housing.
