Commitment to Clients and Communities

I receive the greatest satisfaction at the firm from teaming with innovative, mission-driven clients that are transforming communities across the country. I also enjoy getting to tackle complex legal, financing and practical problems with our firm’s highly engaged and driven team.

Career Overview

Current Focus: Advising clients using complex financing tools to revitalize communities. I do this primarily through work with the New Markets Tax Credit and related tax credits and financing tools. I like to work with clients as early in the process as possible through the closing of the financing of the project and beyond.

Highlights:  One of my career highlights will always remain working on policy solutions to the foreclosure crisis during my time as Skadden Fellow at BPI. From my time at the firm, my highlights are working on long-term complex transactions and having the pleasure of seeing the results in person at ground-breakings, grand openings and site visits. I also always enjoy when a client without experience in our field puts it all together and really comes to appreciate the value of working with these complex financing tools.

In 2019, I was a Streetwise 20 Most Inspiring Chicagoans Honoree for my work representing non-profits in Chicago as well as my community activities. Streetwise highlighted my work for a non-profit homeless shelter in the development of a new shelter and federally qualified health center on Chicago’s West Side, representation of a joint-venture of three non-profits in the development of a large food-business incubator as part of a larger transit-oriented redevelopment strategy in a struggling neighborhood of Chicago, and representation of a non-profit in the development of a new campus to house its programs that serve children who are part of and who have aged-out of the foster care system in Chicago.
