What I love most about my practice is getting to work on complex, multifaceted financial transactions that also have a vital impact on the local community.  With numerous private and public stakeholders involved in any given transaction, I enjoy the challenge of problem-solving to make sure that each party’s needs are met while ensuring that my client’s financial, business and relationship goals are being achieved.  I know that I’ve done my best work when the deal closes and my client is happy – not only because they achieved their own goals, but because their business partners are looking forward to the next transaction together.

Career Overview

Current Focus: I joined Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen in 2018.  I have spent the bulk of my career representing direct investors and syndicators in low income housing tax credit transactions.  As part of this work, I also help my clients navigate the many other sources of financing that make up these deals, including federal historic and energy tax credits, state tax credits, governmental subsidies, and conventional and soft financing.

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to undertake meaningful pro bono work in addition to my primary transactional practice.  One of the most rewarding parts of my law school career was representing children as a lawyer and guardian ad litem in the juvenile court system through Boston College Law School’s Juvenile Rights Advocacy Project.  More recently, I represented a client in a successful appeal for social security disability benefits and a public housing tenants association in a settlement with the IRS.
