Successful applicants will possess strong academic credentials, 3-8 years of prior law firm experience and familiarity working on complex housing finance and community development projects. Experience involving tax credit syndication and government finance is strongly preferred. FHA lending/HUD experience is a plus, but not required.
The ideal candidate will work with our attorneys assisting them in various issues involving federal and state low income housing and historic tax credits, commercial, HUD and other governmental lending, and federal taxation matters. The position requires 15-20 hours per week. Responsibilities include drafting of legal and closing documents in connection with real estate transactions under the direction of the attorney in charge, research and drafting memorandum regarding federal and state regulatory and case law matters and general administrative duties as needed, including deliveries and file maintenance. Demonstrated interest in affordable housing and community development is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of helping to implement systems that improve financial operating efficiencies. The controller will have primary accountability for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the firm. The controller will report to the Chief Operating Officer, assume a strategic role in the overall fiscal management of the firm, and have significant impact on the growth and performance of the organization.
