Commitment to Clients and Communities

As an attorney, I feel privileged to support clients who create meaningful and transformative outcomes in underserved communities. Navigating the legal complexities of impact-driven transactions is both a challenge and a responsibility that I deeply value. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with creative, like-minded individuals who dedicate their time and energy to improving our communities.

Career Overview

Current Focus: My practice is focused on tax structuring and negotiation of transactions that are eligible for new markets tax credit transactions, historic tax credits, energy tax credits, and various other state tax credits and incentives. I work with investors, community development financial institutions, community development entities, banks, developers, and nonprofits to bring high-impact projects to underserved communities. I also counsel nonprofit organizations in connection with their formation, application for tax-exempt status, participation in tax credit transactions, and ongoing compliance.

Prior to joining Applegate, I worked at a national law firm structuring and closing transactions financed with federal and state new markets tax credits, federal and state historic tax credits, renewable energy tax credits, rural jobs tax credits, and other state tax credits. I also spent time as in-house counsel for a utility scale solar developer where I had the opportunity to witness the meaningful impact that tax credit programs can have, as well as the significant challenges that developers face in bringing these projects to completion.
